The first step is to rip up your flooring. Everything has to go and they include the tack strips and nails which can eat up your time and be a bit painful too. While you are at it, look for squeaks and soft spots because this is the best time to do something about them before you install your bamboo flooring. There is no need to rush the installation unless this is done properly.
For the second step, it is actually the most basic. Read the instructions on the outside of the box and follow them carefully. You have to trust these instructions because they were put there by the people who know flooring more than you do. When in doubt, ask an expert or a DIY friend of yours.
Next would be the underlayment which is necessary because this serves as a vapor barer, it separates the finished floor from the sub one, and it just evens out the small irregularities in the floor to give you that clean slate you need with your layout lines. Tarred paper works well with this step and glues the floor down slightly and keeps it stuck, except that it is a bit messy.
Now you can move on to the fun part which is the laying out of the floor. Just open your boxes and place them on the floor. Just remember that if you want the room to look longer, run the direction with the length of the room. If you are flooring hallways, they would look better if you run it the short way. Lay the floor with the tongue pointing out into the unfinished part. And refer to the window to see how the seams look in the light.
The fifth step is to have a good foundation because without it, the good layout won't work and you'll encounter a lot of problems. It would be a good idea to nail down the center of the floor first and then cut the edges with the use of skill saw. Upon doing this, I'd lay the edges. This method would make it easier and faster to fit the tiles to your floor.
Flooring comes next and to do it, you have to tip the blade about 5 cranks from the center to get a tighter fit at the surface. It's also possible for you to take paint sticks for 5 gallon paint cans and to cut them into strips to use them for splines on your strip flooring. They fit into the slots cut by the .25 grooving bit.
